New Trends....Home Decor: Paper and Fabric Crafters United!

A while back I was listening to a webcast from the blog of our grand dame of SU - Shelli Gardner -and in it, Shelli is speaking about the craft industry. I became curious when she was predicting that the Home Decor arena of SU would continue to grow. I thought "oh - I guess we are going to see the Definitely Decorative wall art (our Decor Elements line) expand."

But now we know we've got fabric !!!! Which ultimately means expanding our world - taking paper craft designs and transferring them to fabric!!! How fab!

Just look at this quilt picture - see what I mean - and with our Big Shot and our Sans Seriff Die collection, I could sooooo easily make this!

Just need to find some time (sigh) - my nemesis!

TIPS FOR CARD OR SCRAPBOOK PAGE DESIGNS

1. Ring Embellishment as Ribbon Holder

Use a ring (paper or metal, cloth, etc.) and embed it behind a paper layer about 1/2 or 1/4 of the way in - secure with adhesive so it will have the strength to hold the ribbon. Slip a piece of ribbon through the exposed part of the ring and tie. Trim ends.
*I folded my ribbon in half, slipped the folded edge through the ring and pulled the two end pieces through the ribbon fold - like a slip knot.
**Do that in the opposite direction you actually want the end pieces to point to, because the ends will end up pointing the way you really want in the end.
